Week 4 was fun. I had lots of things going on though. On Monday, free day. On Tuesday, I had to perform my speech, and I got into the class finals. I started to get bad pains in my chest, I threw up at home, and I got some headaches. On Wednesday, I had Regional Gym sports against 12 people, including my brother. Sadly, he bet me and got first, Ronin and Geoffrey got second equal, and I got fourth. I did OK for being sick, and having my lips turn blue halfway through competing. I learnt that I had most of the symptoms for a lung infection. I went to the doctors on Thursday, and they think that these symptoms also happen to people with anxiety, so they think that I might just have anxiety. I don't even know if I am anxious, which apparently can happen with anxiety, but I am pretty sure that I am not getting anxious. I went back to school on Friday, and learnt more about the college when the principal, the deans and head students came to talk to the Year 8's again.
That was my week.

Term2-Week6-2017-😀
Week 6 was an okay week. I got to spend the weekend with my XBOX. I mean, my uncle and his partner that live in the South Island. I hadn't seen them in a long time so it was nice to see them. I showed my mum how to make the wedges that I made last Friday, and she taught me some tips. Like a special way to sprinkle the teaspoon when seasoning, or how to present them with style. We had made so much wedges, I had thirds.
Enough about the weekend. In Food Tech, I learnt that we are not allowed to work together for Healthy Café. That sucked, and I still haven't got an idea of what to make.

Term 2 | Week 5 | 2017
I know I say this a lot, but this term is really going fast. By the time you are reading this, it will already be week 6 or even past that. Week 5 was fun. Assembly wasn't too bad. We did some more volleyball which is really fun. My hands don't get hurt anymore. At food tech, I finally remembered my ingredients for nachos, and it was delicious. We added a lot of spices for extra flavour. It wasn't the first time I made nachos, but it was the first I made it by myself. Even though I had to wait until lunch time to eat it, it was worth it.
Wednesday was okay. Jump Jam was the highlight for me though. We won the golden rock, which is the prize for winning jump jam, and I got really sweaty and pretty exhausted. Thursday was band again and we got some new pieces. I forgot the name to the first piece, but it had two parts, and the second piece is Moana. Moana is like four songs from the movie all together in one song, so it is like 120 bars. That is a lot. In jazz band we practised a new piece called Blue Train. It is a really old piece but it sounds really good. I can't wait till it comes together.
In the afternoon, my brother had a dentist appointment so he missed it. We had the cyber bullying presentation which was really funny. This guy called Lex talked about how he grew up and how technology played a part in him growing up. He also talked about technology today and how it has affected us. He taught us some good tips like think about something for at least 30 seconds. Think about how it will affect you, you friends, your family, the people it might offend or hurt.
On Friday we had Food Tech again and this time I remembered my ingredients again. I made some yummy wedges for lunch, and then for dinner on Sunday for my family, because my uncle stayed the weekend with us. On Friday afternoon was Winter Sports, or Winter Champs.I was in the volleyball team for Mangapiko. We actually did well. Our first game, we bet Puniu, second lost to Waipa, and our last game, we won against Waikato. I had a really fun week, and especially weekend. I hope that you did too.

Week 3 | Term 2 | 2017
This week was a very, very busy week. So in Monday morning assembly, I was so excited to get my bronze badge, but the teacher accidentally forgot to put my name up for the badge. So I had to wait. I have got it now, but this is week 4 and I am writing about week 3 so lets get back to it.
On Tuesday we started Food Technology and made cheesy rolls and dip sticks. They are a really simple meal but delicious at the same time. On Friday we made pizza's and focaccia bread. I made a pizza but forgot to bring all my toppings because of band camp. Will was kind enough to let me use some of his. So my disaster actually turned out okay. Probably 3 stars.
Now band camp. In band camp, two schools (Matamata Intermediate and Cambridge Middle School) came to our school to practice and perform a concert. The groups that performed in the band camp were the Choir (the singers) the senior band (the experienced instrument players) the junior band (the new players) and drumline (the drum players.) I was in the senior band. We played and learnt ten new pieces. I play the alto saxophone so my lips got really sore and my breath was taken away from me, not in a good way. I was blowing so hard that in the actual concert, my nose bled and I had to leave and clean it up. Luckily I got back just in time for our next piece. I met some new people and became friends with them. I think that we did a really good job with the concert.
Well, that was the highlights of my week. Goodbye!

Term 1 Reflection 2017
This term has gone so fast, it is hard to keep up with. I accomplished so much in Tech Arts, like making a jersey, a soccer ball, making soap and slime. The slime was funny. I wasn't able to achieve one of my goals which was to be part of the student council, but I have still had a fun year. My favorite week was camp for many reasons. We had a week off school, I turned twelve, we learnt a lot, it was a great experience, and I got to see my family down in Wellington. We had three inter-house competitions and my house Mangapiko, won one of them. We won Summer Games. I met a lot of new year sevens and caught up with some old friends that I are now year sevens. It still feels so weird being the year eight now, even though it is nearly term 2. Being a year eight has teached me a whole lot. I know how to sew, I know about particles, atoms, molecules and states of matter to name a few. I have met a whole lot of new people, and I can't wait for term 2. Bring it on.

Week 9 | 2017 | Term 1 | RM3 CLASS CAMP
We departed from school on Sunday, and the ride down was pretty boring. Liam and my phone kept me company though, even though my phone went flat. Wellington was much more fun than the sven hour bus trip.
We went to Parliament, Zealandia, Weta Workshops, Wellington Zoo, Snorkelling at Island Bay, Holocaust Center, Capital E, Space Place, Wellington Museum, Bug Lab at Te Papa, H2O Xtreme, and more. At the campgrounds we were staying at, Wellington Top 10 Holiday Park, in Lower Hutt, there was a jumping mat, a trampoline and a lot of field. My favourite day was Thursday because I turned twelve and got to see my family that lived in Wellington. My favourite activities were Wellington Zoo, Weta, H2O Xtreme and Capital E.
At the zoo I took lots of photos of the animals and walked around the whole zoo. My favourite animal that I saw there was the Tasmanian Devil. I think I saw five of them. I just though that they were so cool, cute and unique. I loved Weta workshops because they made 6 of my favourite movies. The Hobbit trilogy and The Lord of the Rings. Weta was just amazing and what they had achieved was just breath-taking. The amount of special effects that are used and how easy it is to make some of the props is mind-blowing. I learnt that there are about 25,000 made arrows scattered around NZ because of LOTR, Lord of the Rings.
H2O Xtreme was just fun because it was just like the pools. I had a lot of fun with my friends. Finally Capital E. In the first session, my group got to design simple android apps in the Media Lab. They were simple but fun. I learnt about an accelerometer. They are what senses the shaking or turning of a phone for some apps. Then we made a movie in ONTV with special effects, wacky costumes and about an hour of rehearsing. I was location manager and location cameraman. I recorded the three reporters. The movie we made was Once upon a Crime.
Those were the real highlights of my camp. Hope you enjoyed reading and really understood what happened, even if it wasn't the best explained.

Week 7 Term 1 SO FUN!!!!!!
I didn't get around to doing a blog post last week because of the small amount of time but I guess I will just do week 7 and the best bits of week 6.
We met our Makuhari student/billet. His name is Asuki but it is pronounced Aski. Where he comes from his last name is first and his first name is last. So his Japanese name is Sato Asuki. He is really cool and is surprisingly quiet and good at English. He likes our XBOX and watching TV. We watch a series on Netflix called Ultimate Beastmaster. There are 2competitors from six different countries and one of those is Japan. He enjoys that show. He likes Pokémon and loved it as a kid. He is 15 and very well mannered. He has become really like family. He has had cool adventures with his friends from Japan and with us too. He went with his school horse-riding and to Roturua. He also went to Pekerau School to meet some of the younger kids. The first weekend was a rainy mess so we did not do much. This weekend that just happened, we went to Raglan on Saturday and Hamilton on Sunday. Saturday was fun. We went to Bridal Veil Falls and the falls were massive. We went past the windmills and went to Raglan. We played on the Playground and ha lunch, then had a relaxing and exciting 2 and 1/2 hours at the beach. On Sunday we waited for mums roller derby to finish witch took 2 hours. We went to the base and had Asuki's favourite food, Sushi. I learnt that Asuki has balls. He got a whole piece of wasabi that you get with an 8 piece box, and ate it whole. It was hilarious. He kept saying that he was OK, but he ended up crying just a little. We also went to the lake for half an hour to have a little break before we went home.
At school I finally finished my jumper. It looks pretty cool, but not the tidiest. Sewing isn't for everyone. We also went to the disco which was so fun. Everyone was having fun and dancing. Everyone who didn't go, I hope they regret not going because it was probably the best disco yet. My brother even got asked out. It was a really good week.

Term 1 Week 5 Still 2017
This week was in my opinion a short week. Even though school is getting a lot faster, a lot of things happened and I learned from them.
We had a guest speaker that was actually (the woodworks teacher) Mr Graham's nephew, who happens to be a boxer. He told us the basics to boxing, the training, all the skills that go in to it, and his experiences. I learnt that boxing isn't just punching someone in the snot-box, it's also about the skills and training and listening, which my mum says I need to work on. My jersey in tech arts just keeps getting better. All I need now is the hood, the sleeves and to tidy it up at the end. I can't wait to wear it in the winter.
I also entered a writing competition and I am already finished my first draft, even though it is meant to be handed in by April 1. It is amazing what you can come up with in your imagination when you put your mind to it. Friday was Inter-House Swimming Sports. I am a horrible swimmer, like worse than horrible. I am like an underwater snail that doesn't stick to walls, I float and I don't eat fish poo. Although I am bad, I tried my hardest and gave everything a go. Surprisingly, I didn't come last at anything, except my house Mangapiko came last at the whole thing. I think that we can make a great comeback in Summer Games though, even though it is in Autumn.
That was my week. I can't wait until week 6 because our exchange student from Makuhari, Japan is coming and there is so much that we want to show him. Also there is other things happening in week 6 so hit me with your best shot week 6. Until then. Seeya.

Term 1 Week 4 2017!
This week was mixed for me. It was quite interesting is all I can say. I will summarize what has happened and what I have learnt.
At the morning assembly, we found out who the rest of the student council is. I did not get the role of Mangapiko house captain, nor any other house captain, but the people who did deserved that and I just have to accept that. My jersey is just getting better and better. Because my design for my jersey is so big and time consuming, it still has not been finished, but now all I need is to stitch my front star to my jersey.
We did some more PAT tests and I did alright. I could of done better. I still think it's because of holiday brain though. We learnt about how to play our pieces better and now I know how to play Yankee Doodle. Mum is gonna be so annoyed at some point. At Friday sport in scatter ball, my team got 37 and in hash cricket, 56 in one innings.
That was my week that I can clearly remember. Dang it holiday brain! Thank you for reading about my week and I would sure like to hear about yours. See ya.

2017! Term 1 Week 3
This year has gone extremely fast, like faster then regular. I am still settling in to be a year 8. Now I am one of the big people and it is still strange to live by.
Anyway. Back on topic. Week 3 has already come to pass and I have learnt a lot already. At the assembly we learnt the placing of Inter-House Minor Games and my house Mangapiko came 2nd. While at tech arts in fabric I learnt how to sew, steam and stitch much better than I used to . Then in the next session we cut out our templates for our jersey that we are making. I am making a Captain America hoodie. I did try out for rock band the week before but I didn't get in but my brother made call backs, so he had to practise a song. We both learnt to sing the particular song he sang for auditions. We practised a new piece in band and jazz band. It was pretty cool. At choir we learnt another new song that we have to sing very high for. Somewhere over the rainbow. We have a new time for French and we had a revision. It had been so long that I only got 8 out of 20. Talk about holiday brain.
So that was my week in a short reflection. I hope that your week was alright as well. I also hope you like reading my blog and I can't wait for week 4.
